A family tragedy unfolded this morning in the city of Nuoro, Sardinia. According to initial reports, a man murdered his wife, his daughter, and severely injured his mother, his two younger sons, and a neighbor who had rushed to help. He then used the same revolver to take his own life.
One of the perpetrator’s children, who had been hospitalized, succumbed to their injuries a few hours later.
Immediately following the incident, Carabinieri and Italian police forces arrived at the apartment building where the killer lived with his family.
The daughter, Martina, who tragically lost her life, was 26 years old. The two younger siblings, aged 9 and 14, were injured and taken to the hospital. It remains unclear which of the two boys has passed away.
The elderly woman, the killer’s 83-year-old mother, suffered a severe head injury.
Carabinieri and prosecutors are currently gathering evidence and information to understand what might have driven the perpetrator to commit such a horrific act.
