An ELAS operation was carried out with special equipment in Roma camps in western and northeastern Attica, as part of efforts to combat organized crime, stated Michalis Chrysochoidis on Thursday morning.
As seen in the ELAS video, police officers conducted raids using specialized battering rams to force open doors. In one case, when officers realized there were two individuals inside a house with a locked door, they shouted, “Police, open the door and come out with your hands on your head.”
According to reports, police made over 10 arrests in total. During searches in the camps of Western Attica (Vlycho, Nea Zoi, and Neoktista Aspropyrgos), four vehicles were confiscated, along with clothes worn by the suspects during burglaries, stolen items, €3,000, a shotgun, and several rounds of ammunition.
One of the suspects is already incarcerated, while some of the arrestees are reportedly involved in more than 90 burglaries.
In the operation in northeastern Attica, six people were arrested, including two linked to shooting incidents. Police discovered numerous items (likely stolen), and in some cases, electricity theft was also identified.
