The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) believe that “it is still possible” to find a diplomatic solution to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, the Italian government said in a press release.
At a summit via teleconference convened by Italy, leaders expressed deep concern over the escalating crisis and condemned Iran’s missile attack on Israel.
“Expressing deep concern over the escalation in recent hours, they recalled that a conflict in the wider region is in no one’s interest and that a diplomatic solution is still possible,” the statement said. G7 leaders “strongly condemned” Iran’s attack on Israel.
Italy holds the rotating presidency of the G7, which also includes the US, Canada, Britain, France, France, Germany, and Japan.
