The final goodbye to 26-year-old Ionas Karousis, who was murdered in Tel Aviv last Tuesday during a terrorist attack, is being said today by family and friends.

Family members and those who loved the 26-year-old are arriving early at the Holy Church of Agia Sophia in Thessaloniki as a memorial service in his memory will be held at 12.30pm.

Tragic figures include the young man’s partner and his close relatives who cannot believe that the 26-year-old has so unjustly passed away.

“We still don’t realize what has happened. I think we’re going to wake up in the morning and go do all the things we’ve always done. Unfortunately, he left just as he was finishing his degree and was about to get a job to pursue a career as an architect. He sadly left when he had gone on a job for his school. He went to record a site and unfortunately he was shot four times in the chest. It’s very unfair what has happened, I can’t take it,”said the 26-year-old’s uncle.

The funeral of the young man is currently being held in deep sorrow at the Greek Orthodox cemetery at the Prophet David’s Gate or Zion Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem.
