One death and serious problems in western Greece were left behind by the “Cassandra” that hit the country in the past 48 hours. However, the effects are receding with the bad weather moving further east and weakening.
In a post, EMF director Thodoros Kolydas said:
As far as the development is concerned, it seems that in the next few hours the front will move further east, so it seems to weaken, and will affect the eastern Aegean Sea and the northeastern most part of our country with much less intensity.
We are gradually moving towards easing as the disturbance moves further east and the corresponding intensities of the phenomena have decreased.”
Sakis Arnaoutoglou also made a post about the weather, presenting the temperatures for the week.
“And in the background… hot weather again!” the meteorologist wrote.
Temperatures in the country will rise significantly from Wednesday, October 9. According to the graph, in closed lowland areas of the country, the mercury will exceed thirty degrees by Thursday.
Security Guard found dead after being swept away by torrent in Aitoloakarnania
The search for a 52-year-old business security guard who was missing after heavy rainfall caused in its wake by the “Cassandra” storm in Aitoloakarnania has come to a tragic end.

He was spotted by men of the 6th EMAK rapids team operating in the area. It is speculated that he was swept along with the outpost by the rapids of the torrent that “broke”.
