Air France has announced that it has initiated an internal investigation regarding one of its flights over Iraqi airspace on October 1st, during the Iranian missile attack on Israel.
The company stated that flight AF662, traveling from Paris to Dubai, was flying through a designated corridor used by all airlines in southern Iraq at the time of the attack. The plane left Iraqi airspace fifteen minutes later, which had not been closed to air traffic until 20:56 Greece time.
“Without waiting for instructions from Iraqi authorities, Air France decided to suspend its flights over the country’s airspace from 20:00 (Greece time),” the airline noted.
“An internal investigation into the incident has been launched,” it added.
Air France also mentioned that another flight returned to Paris, while a third flight, from Singapore to Paris, made an additional stop in Delhi to refuel, as it had to take a longer route.
