October’s summer-like weather is coming to an end today as temperatures begin to drop, gradually returning to normal for the season. Additionally, African dust levels will rise in the east and south. According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers are expected in the northeast through the afternoon.
In a post on X, EMY director Theodoros Kolydas noted that while temperatures will cool, there’s little good news regarding rainfall. High-pressure systems are dominating the region, preventing low-pressure systems from reaching the Central Mediterranean, and reducing the likelihood of significant precipitation for now.
Yesterday, temperatures soared to 35.2°C in Galaxidi, and over 20% of the EAA network’s weather stations reported temperatures above 30°C.
Today’s Forecast:
Light clouds will prevail, becoming thicker over the Aegean and parts of the mainland. Local showers and occasional thunderstorms are likely in Central and Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and parts of the Northern and Eastern Aegean. Dust concentrations will be higher in the east and south, and visibility may be limited in some areas through the morning.
Temperatures will range from:
- 10-21°C in Western Macedonia,
- 15-25°C in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace,
- 15-27°C in Thessaly,
