With a Joint Ministerial Decision by the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis, and the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Thanos Petralias, the amount and threshold of healthcare expenses that are paid in advance to Armed Forces personnel have been defined, in order to cover necessary medical costs.

Specifically, for healthcare expenses exceeding €300, the full amount is now paid in advance to Armed Forces personnel, minus their participation share.

The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, stated:

“The advance coverage of healthcare expenses is a meaningful intervention supporting those who serve the country, strengthening the sense of security and care that the State owes them. With this ministerial decision, we ensure in practice that Armed Forces personnel have immediate and uninterrupted access to necessary healthcare services, without delays or bureaucratic obstacles. We continue consistently to implement policies that improve the daily life and quality of life of our personnel.”

The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Thanasis Davakis, stated:

“Our Joint Ministerial Decision has recently been published, according to which the full amount of healthcare expenses—minus the participation share—is paid in advance to Armed Forces personnel, provided it exceeds €300. In this way, we reduce the financial burden on our personnel for high medical expenses, simplify procedures, and strengthen their sense of security.

This decision, which is the result of Law 5195/2025 on upgrading healthcare for personnel, constitutes another step taken by this government and the political leadership of the Ministry of National Defence to improve healthcare services for members of the Armed Forces.”
