The first ship carrying migrants to the two Italian centers in northern Albania has sailed

Passengers on board the Italian Navy ship "Libra" will first be transferred to the hotspot near the Albanian-Montenegro border for identification procedures

Newsroom October 14 10:31

An Italian navy ship carrying to the two closed Italian centers in northern Albania illegal immigrants sailed from Lampedusa a short time ago, the Interior Ministry in Rome said.

The Italian interior ministry added that the men were from safe countries and did not belong to vulnerable groups.

Those on board the Italian Navy’s Libra ship will first be taken to the hotspot, near Albania’s border with Montenegro, for identification procedures.

In the first two closed centers, with around one thousand beds, asylum seekers will await a response from the competent authorities.

The third is a penitentiary with a capacity of twenty people.
