Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides reiterated that “there can be no solution to the Cyprus issue or discussion that falls outside the framework of United Nations resolutions,” in an interview with Euronews.
He emphasized, “I know where we want to go. We know very well. We know what our red lines are.”
He further explained that the positions he heard from Ersin Tatar were the same ones Tatar has been publicly expressing for some time. Christodoulides added that he had made proposals on various issues.
“Unfortunately, all were rejected by Mr. Tatar,” said Christodoulides, noting that the normalization of Greek-Turkish relations can only have a positive and constructive impact on the Cyprus issue. He also stressed that progress in EU-Turkey relations is closely tied to the Cyprus problem.
