The fire, which was burning low vegetation at the intersection of Tinos and Papandreou streets in Perama, Attica, was brought partially under control.
The Fire Department reported that the fire broke out around 10:36 a.m. in a plot of land where a makeshift structure was located, and materials like asbestos sheets and gas cylinders were burning.
“We are burning; scrap collectors are starting fires near an oil pipeline,” said the mayor of Perama, Ioannis Lagoudakos. He emphasized that there are flammable liquid fuels in the area.
