Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Dutch player Botic van de Zandschulp with a score of 7-6(3), 7-5.

Tsitsipas advanced to the quarterfinals of the Swiss Indoor tournament in Basel.

The top Greek tennis player eliminated van de Zandschulp in 1 hour and 46 minutes with a score of 7-6(3), 7-5, and will await the winner of the match between Pedro Martínez and Arthur Fils in the quarterfinals.

The Match

Although Tsitsipas started the match somewhat sluggishly and suffered a break in the first game, he managed to respond immediately to level the score at 1-1. After saving a break point, he held his serve in the third game to go up 2-1.

Following this strange start, the Greek champion displayed consistency in his performance, taking the tightly contested first set thanks to his composure in critical moments.

He first saved a break point at 5-5, 30-40, and shortly after executed an impressive tiebreak, winning it convincingly with a score of 7-3.

In the second set, Tsitsipas was noticeably better than his Dutch opponent as time went on. He unsuccessfully threatened to break in the seventh game but eventually succeeded in the eleventh, taking the lead at 6-5 and then serving for the match to seal the victory at 7-5.

This was his second victory against the Dutch player in as many encounters and marked his 42nd win of the season (42-20).

Tsitsipas has advanced to his tenth quarterfinal of 2024.
