Shawn Mendes recently spoke about his bond with his former girlfriend, Camila Cabello, sharing insights on how their relationship has deeply influenced him.

Mendes noted that Cabello, whom he dated from 2019 after their hit collaboration on Señorita until their breakup two years later, remains an important part of his life.

In an interview with The New York Times, Mendes expressed frustration over public assumptions that they’ve become adversaries since their split. He clarified, “We still talk about music and other meaningful things. It bothers me that people still think we’re against each other.”

He emphasized how valuable their connection is to him, even calling Cabello “the first person” he would call in any personal crisis. Reflecting on their time together, he added, “Our relationship taught me what love means.”
