A newlywed couple was devastated to find that burglars had broken into their home and stolen their wedding gifts, totaling €20,000 in cash.

The incident took place in a village in Mesara, Heraklion, Crete, on Wednesday, November 6, while the couple was away from home.

Upon their return, the couple was shocked and angered to discover that all their cash wedding gifts had been taken, amounting to a total value of €20,000, according to reports from neakriti.gr.

Eyewitness accounts suggest the perpetrators may have been aware of the couple’s absence and broke in through a balcony door in a less visible area.

The young couple, who recently welcomed their first child, expressed disappointment with the authorities, claiming there was a lack of immediate response. Investigations to locate the perpetrators are ongoing.
