The stationmaster of Larissa, the first defendant in the Tempi accident case, has requested and received a new deadline for a supplementary apology.

He did not apologize to the appellate investigator, who officially assumed his duties on March 14, 2023, taking over from the regular investigator.

The stationmaster, who is charged with the felony of disrupting traffic safety and some misdemeanors, apologized on March 5 just days after the fatal accident, and was found to be in custody with the consent of the investigator and prosecutor.

He had nearly exhausted the 18-month maximum limit of temporary detention when he was released on parole last August and is expected to walk through the door of the appeals examining magistrate in December to give his supplementary plea.

Along with the stationmaster, 40 other people are accused in the case, of whom only three have yet to plead before the investigating magistrate. The reason is three preliminary investigation officials of the Fire Department are accused of the misdemeanor of breach of duty regarding their investigation around the fire that followed the collision of the two trains.

Those individuals are expected to enter a plea next Thursday, while a supplemental plea from a former OSE executive is still pending.
