According to reports from cretapost, the incident took place when a scammer called a 96-year-old man, falsely informing him that his daughter had been seriously injured in a car accident and required immediate surgery. The caller claimed a large sum of money was needed urgently to cover the surgical expenses.

Panicking and believing the scammer’s story, the elderly man quickly gathered all the money he had, which amounted to €80,000. Following the instructions given by the supposed doctor, he put the cash in a bag and threw it from his balcony to a waiting accomplice below, who quickly took the money and disappeared.

Realizing later that he had been deceived, the victim reported the incident to the police, who have now launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
