Vassilis Spanoulis: Agrees to Take Over Monaco, Foreign Media Report
Greek national team coach Vassilis Spanoulis is ready to elevate his coaching career, as Serbian media report that he has agreed to take over Monaco, a team competing in the Euroleague.
Just one day after it was made official that the paths of Monaco and their coach Sasha Obradovic would part ways, the Monegasque team has found its next head coach.
According to Serbian media outlet Meridian Sport, everything has been agreed, and Vassilis Spanoulis will become the new coach of Monaco.
The Greek national team coach has not been involved with any club since taking on the national team role, though he previously had a highly successful stint with Peristeri, especially in European competitions.
In this way, Spanoulis returns to the Euroleague, a competition he won three times — twice with Olympiacos and once with Panathinaikos.
Monaco is a very strong team with a notable Greek presence, featuring Spanoulis’ former teammate Nick Calathes and Giorgos Papagiannis. Additionally, they have the reigning Euroleague MVP, Mike James, along with players like Korkmaz, Okobo, and Motiejunas.
Monaco’s current Euroleague record stands at 6-4, placing them in 7th place in the standings.
