A 49-year-old man was arrested earlier today by the Anti-Terrorism Unit. According to initial information, he is the individual who had been depositing rent money for the warehouse – which was discovered to be a safehouse – located in Pangrati. The man reportedly rented the warehouse at the end of 2008.
He made a deposit for the warehouse on November 5, and although the deposit was made directly into the name of the owner of the warehouse (anonymously for the depositor), the transaction was captured on the ATM camera. Initial reports suggest that the suspect is a philologist.
Last night, while there were reports of his search, the 49-year-old attempted to dispose of the clothes he wore the day he made the deposit. He worked in a tutoring center and had never been involved with the authorities for any reason.
Anti-Terrorism officials had considered the person making the rent deposits as a key individual, as they believe he could lead them to those who were aware of the weapons cache found in the Pangrati warehouse.
