New details about the death of former supermodel Georgina Cooper, who passed away in Greece, have been revealed by the Daily Mail.
According to the British website, the 46-year-old Cooper died from liver cirrhosis and internal bleeding after her organs failed.
Cooper, who used her husband’s last name (Smith), fell ill on October 21 while vacationing in Kos, a destination she had visited regularly for the past 20 years.
Initially, Cooper was treated at a local hospital on the island. Due to the severity of her condition, she was airlifted to Heraklion, Crete. Despite receiving intensive care for five days in the ICU, she passed away.
The Daily Mail reports that an autopsy was deemed unnecessary as her medical history was well-documented.
A spokesperson for the Heraklion hospital told MailOnline: “Doctors did everything they could, but her condition left little room for intervention. She died of liver cirrhosis and internal bleeding following organ failure. Her body was transported from Venizelio Hospital in Heraklion and has since returned to the UK.”
Family and friends are preparing to bid their final farewell to the 46-year-old in a ceremony scheduled for Wednesday at a crematorium near her home in Kent.
