Six people have been arrested and taken to the GADA accused of being the perpetrators of the large-scale money train robbery in Lavrio. Their loot exceeded 1 million euros.
It is recalled that the robbery took place last September, at the moment when the money train’s car stopped outside a well-known games store in order for employees to pick up the money. One of the employees entered the store, while another remained in the car waiting for him.
That’s when the perpetrators’ plan went into action. The robbers, wearing white overalls and surgical masks, first approached the back of the cashier’s car with their vehicle and slashed its tires with a sharp object.
They then threatened the driver with a Kalashnikov. One of the perpetrators placed something that resembled an explosive device on the windshield of the car, however, it was subsequently determined to be a firecracker and sprayed paint on the vehicle in the driver’s seat.
The clerk in fear opened the door of the vehicle and as a result, the robbers squeezed out 15 bags of money.
