The scheduled free afternoon surgeries at Papageorgiou Hospital will not take place today, as originally planned by Health Minister Adonis Georgiades, following the tragic accident in Xanthi.
The case of four children found unconscious in a house in Magiko Xanthion Friday morning after a gas leak, as one of them, a 16-year-old boy, ended up in Xanthi hospital where he was taken. His two sisters, aged 18 and 15, after being intubated at Xanthi Hospital, were then aborted at the Hippocrates Hospital in Thessaloniki.
As the minister said in a post, “Now the battle of the three other children to emerge victorious is paramount. I will reschedule at the first opportunity.”

Due to the tragic accident in Xanthi, I decided to cancel my scheduled visit today to the “Papageorgiou” Hospital, for the free afternoon surgeries. Now the battle of the three other children to come out victorious comes first. I will reschedule at the earliest opportunity. Sincere condolences to this family for their child gone, the NHS is with their family in all its strength.
