Mount Athos: Alarm raised over missing Monk – Disappeared for days

Rescue teams from Thessaloniki, Kavala, and Halkidiki, equipped with a search dog and a drone, are searching for a monk who has been missing for several days

Authorities have been alerted to the disappearance of a monk from the Xenophontos Monastery on Mount Athos. A five-member team from the Hellenic Rescue Team has been deployed, including a search dog and a drone, to assist in locating the missing monk.

The Hellenic Rescue Team’s Cassandra Readiness Base was informed about the disappearance on Monday. A specialized unit, accompanied by a search dog, is expected to join the effort shortly.

Additionally, the Fire Department is involved, with three vehicles and nine firefighters dispatched to aid in the search. The Fire Service was notified about the monk’s disappearance by the Hellenic Police on December 1.
