A large operation by the Greek Police is underway since Tuesday morning, against Turkish criminal gangs operating in Greece.
The operation took place both in Athens and Thessaloniki by the Organized Crime Unit, and so far, 8 individuals have been arrested, 8 others have been detained, and a total of 49 firearms along with quantities of drugs have been confiscated.
The operation follows the recent execution of two Turks in Glyfada a few days ago. Two individuals have already been arrested in connection with the case, and according to police sources, five more are still being sought.
According to reports, after the double murder in Glyfada, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) forwarded information to the police regarding the presence of Turkish groups in the country. As a result, some of the arrests were made following intelligence provided by NIS.
