The debate on the draft budget for 2025 continues for a second day in the Plenary session.
The first statement was delivered by the Minister of Labour, Niki Kerameos. In her address, Ms. Kerameos emphasized the reduction of unemployment, highlighting that “in 2024, for the first time after exceeding 15%, unemployment will drop to single digits.” She added that further declines are anticipated in 2025 and 2026. “In the last five years, we have created 500,000 new jobs,” the minister noted.
Discussing the ministry’s goals, Ms. Kerameos stated, “2025 will be a year of continuity and the completion of significant changes for the Ministry of Labour, with a dual focus on continuously strengthening employment and addressing the needs of society.”
She also underscored that the Government remains committed to working with a clear plan and unwavering determination. Concluding her speech, she remarked that the budget figures “prove that it is possible to balance social stability with social development.”
