The forensic report on the death of Panagiotakis in Amaliada is in the final stages, in August 2024. The infant was the child of Popi, a friend of Eirini Mourtzoukou, and his death opened the cycle of investigations into the dead baby case in Amaliada and Patras.

According to MEGA, the pathologists have completed their report in which the causes of the child’s death are pathological and are expected to hand it over to the coroner who will draw up the conclusion.

Specifically, they report, among other things, that the brain image is consistent with a prolonged ischemic hypoxic attack from hours before death to approximately.

They also write that there is brain matter depletion possibly attributed to a genetic disease or viral condition. At the same time, “extensive redundancy (with a question mark) necrosis of the venous sinus is identified in the blind area. Morphology compatible with a viral origin.”

Mucosal necrosis with the viral presence of eminent cells with morphology compatible with viral origin is recognized.

“The most important finding is the lack of oxygen to the brain. There is no doubt about the findings. We are talking about a lack of oxygen in the brain. A reason must be found, a central etiology that justifies the lack of oxygen. It fits perfectly with the forensic tests. The brain is the target organ, for some reason, it lost oxygen,” Gregory Leo said.

He continued: “The finding in the intestine is with question marks, a person cannot die with these question marks. When a person suffers from lack of oxygen he dies anyway.”
