New Orleans was attacked by a terrorist attack, the city’s mayor said in the first briefing after a car crashed into a crowd, killing 10 people.
As the police chief then explained, the attacker was a man and “wanted to kill, it was not an accident.” Describing what happened, he said the car that crashed into the crowd was moving at high speed.
According to her, of the 10 people killed, the majority of them are local residents.
The latest account also cites at least 35 people injured, including two police officers who were shot by the man who opened fire after he ran into the gathered crowd in the city’s French Quarter.
For his part, an FBI spokesman said improvised explosive devices were also found, without specifying where or when they were found.
