“Lone wolf” terrorist in New Orleans – He had placed two explosive devices at the site of the attack

The characteristics of the new "face" of terror

Newsroom January 2 06:57

The terrorist in New Orleans had also planted two improvised explosive devices near where he carjacked the crowd, FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Ryan said at a news conference on the attack that left 14 dead and dozens injured.

U.S. authorities have stressed that Samsud Jabbar acted alone, revising their initial assessment that he may have had accomplices.

The death toll also appears to have been revised, with the FBI now talking about 14 dead (down from 15 as known) and at least 35 injured.

The threat Jabbar represented has been neutralized and the public is not in danger, a spokesman for the federal agency said.

Regarding the investigation into the terrorist attack, the FBI says it found three cellphones the attacker had as well as two laptops he had in his home. All are under investigation to see if they have anything to offer the investigation.

His car, in which an ISIS flag was known to have been found, is also being closely examined.

Interestingly, it is reported that Jabbar had placed improvised explosive devices inside coolers in places very close to Bourbon Street where he “mowed down” dozens of people with his car.

There is visual footage showing the perpetrator placing the functional devices.

Finally, authorities say there is “no definitive link” between the New Orleans attack and the Las Vegas incident.
