Two of those accused in the murder of a 34-year-old man in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day in downtown Serron were taken to the Serron courthouse at noon Thursday.

They are a 29-year-old man from Albania and a 27-year-old Greek who were arrested a few hours after the deadly clash, while two other defendants, a 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, remain missing.

With the case file formed against them for homicide with intent and conspiracy, the two arrested men will cross the “threshold” of the prosecutor’s office for criminal prosecution. They will then be referred to the investigating magistrate to answer.

“He was stabbed twice”

Speaking to protothema.gr, the brother of the 34-year-old victim explains that it all happened at about 4.30 in the morning when his brother, along with his brother-in-law, arrived at the entrance of the well-known club in the area. There was a queue of people waiting there and his brother, who had consumed alcohol and did not want to wait in line, skipped the queue of people and went to the front. Then, the employee at the “door” of the business asked him to go back to wait, with the victim asking him “Who are you to tell me to wait?”

“He replied, “now you will see who I am”. He left and half an hour later returned with his cousin, he was holding the knife and his cousin the gun. He stabbed him twice in the middle of the road, once in the genital artery and once in the side and we were told he stabbed him in the back,” he said.

“They are involved with godfathers of the night”

The victim’s brother notes that they did not make an appointment, just that the 34-year-old waited for them at the spot until the perpetrators arrived, and in addition to stabbing the victim, they also beat up his brother-in-law. He added that these people were involved with “godfathers of the night” and his brother knew them but they did not hang out.

“The one who stabbed him has not been arrested yet, nor the one who fired the air gun,” the victim’s brother stresses.

It will be recalled that the unfortunate man was the father of two children and was expecting his third in a short time, as his wife is pregnant.

When police officers arrived at the scene where the bloody incident unfolded, they located and confiscated six shells from a crack gas pistol.
