Dual zone electricity tariff: These are the six hours in 24 hours with the cheapest price

Changes to the reduced charge in electricity tariffs

Newsroom January 3 10:49

From 1 February 2025, a new bi-zonal electricity billing system for consumers with a appropriate meter and an active bi-zonal tariff comes into effect.

This system includes two zones, with different schedules for winter and summer:

Winter (November to March):

Midday zone: 12:00 – 15:00
Night zone: 02:00 – 05:00

Summer (April – October):

Midday zone: 11:00 – 15:00

Noon zone: 11:00 – 15:00
Night zone: 02:00 – 04:00

This initiative aims to allow consumers to use electricity during the hours when it is cheapest.

Existing dual-zone tariff supply contracts will be adjusted to incorporate the new hours, and consumers who do not want the new system will be able to terminate their current contract at no cost.

The PPP will be responsible for implementing the new hours, which will come into effect automatically, without the need for energy from consumers.

About 150,000 consumers, due to their existing meters, will be temporarily exempted from the change and will be informed with instructions. To join the new system, they will have to submit a request to the DEDYE, at no cost to themselves.
