A Finnish court has said no to a request for the release of the tanker that allegedly caused the damage to a submarine power line and four telecom cables last week.
Finland on December 26 blocked the tankerEagle S carrying Russian oil on suspicion of damaging the Finnish-Estonian Estlink 2 power line as well as telecommunications cables the day before as it dragged its anchor on the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
The lawyer representing Caravella LLC FZ, a company based in the United Arab Emirates that owns the tanker, had called for the release of the ship and crew.
