Alarm Raised After Escape of Two Albanian Criminals from Kassaveteia Agricultural Prison
Greek authorities are on high alert following the escape of two Albanian criminals from Kassaveteia Prison on Thursday night (2/12).
According to reports, police operations are underway in West Attica to locate the fugitives, with citizens claiming to have spotted them. Special police teams are conducting the search.
Sources suggest that the two escapees may be armed and are likely staying together.
Details of the Escape
The two men, both 41 years old, had been serving long prison sentences, including life imprisonment, for multiple robberies, arson, and participation in a criminal organization with the intent to commit murder.
Since 2019, they had been held in Kassaveteia Agricultural Prison, a facility without a fenced perimeter, due to their good behavior. Their room was only checked a few times a day by prison staff.
The fugitives had previously been granted a five-day leave in 2024. They are believed to have exploited their return from this leave to plan and execute their escape. Their absence was discovered at 9:00 PM on Thursday, prompting an immediate police response. Given their serious criminal history, the two men are considered highly dangerous, and efforts to locate them are ongoing.
