The weather over the three day weekend – Following the rain, sunshine and warm seas

On Saturday and Sunday there will be local rains while the temperature will drop due to the north winds - On the day of Epiphany the weather will be almost clear

Cloudy skies and local rainfall will roll through Saturday while temperatures will drop slightly on Sunday. On Monday, the weather will be an ally for day-trippers and those who take a dip to consecrate the waters.

According to the EMY, on Saturday, January 4, clouds are expected to increase and showers are expected mainly in the west and the eastern and southern Aegean Sea. Sporadic thunderstorms will occur in the southeast. Occasional snowfall will occur in the mountains of Epirus and western Macedonia. In the evening the phenomena in the Ionian and most continental areas will stop.

Winds in the southeast will blow south 3 to 5 Beaufort. In the rest of the country will initially blow west southwest 3 to 5 Beaufort, but quickly in the west and north and gradually in the remaining areas will turn to north, locally in the north 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop slightly in the north where it will not exceed 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, while in other areas it will reach 15 to 17 and locally in the south 18 degrees Celsius.

Attica:

  • Weather: Mostly clear skies.
  • Winds: West-southwesterly 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually shifting in the afternoon to northerly, locally reaching 5 Beaufort in the east.
  • Temperature: 05°C to 17°C.

Thessaloniki:

  • Weather: Partly cloudy with possible rain in the morning.
  • Winds: Variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort, quickly turning northwesterly at 4 to 6 Beaufort, weakening by early afternoon.
  • Temperature: 03°C to 11°C.

Macedonia & Thrace:

  • Weather: Cloudy with occasional rain; snowfall possible in higher altitudes.
  • Winds: Southwesterly 3 to 5 Beaufort, quickly increasing to 4 to 6 Beaufort from the north.
  • Temperature: 01°C to 12°C (Western Macedonia: -1°C to 8°C).

Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Sterea & Western Peloponnese:

  • Weather: Localized thunderstorms possible in the northern Ionian during morning hours. Snowfall expected in mountainous areas of Epirus.
  • Winds: West, turning northwesterly 3 to 4 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: 05°C to 17°C (Interior of Epirus: 00°C to 10°C).

Eastern Sterea, Evia & Eastern Peloponnese:

  • Weather: Generally clear with occasional clouds.
  • Winds: West-southwesterly 3 to 4 Beaufort, locally up to 5 Beaufort in the east, turning northerly by afternoon.
  • Temperature: 04°C to 17°C.

Cyclades & Crete:

  • Weather: Mostly clear, becoming cloudy with possible localized rain in the afternoon.
  • Winds: Southwesterly 3 to 5 Beaufort, turning north-northwest in the evening with the same intensity.
  • Temperature: 11°C to 18°C.

Eastern Aegean Islands & Dodecanese:

  • Weather: Clear skies with occasional clouds in the afternoon.
  • Winds: Northerly 3 to 5 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: 10°C to 17°C.

  • Winds: Northerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, locally up to 6 Beaufort in the Aegean.
  • Temperature: A slight drop is expected, with northern regions reaching 9°C to 11°C and southern regions 14°C to 17°C. Frost will occur locally in northern mainland areas during the morning hours.

Weather on Epiphany (Monday, January 6):

Meteorologists predict favorable weather with clear skies across most of the country.

  • Winds: Initially northerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, shifting west-southwest later in the day. Southerly winds up to 6 Beaufort are expected overnight in the northern Ionian Sea.
  • Temperature: A slight rise is expected, especially in maximum temperatures. Local frost will occur in northern mainland regions during the morning hours.

For those planning Epiphany dives, sea temperatures will range from 16°C to 17°C.
