EOPYY is launching a new verification system for five categories of healthcare benefits for insured individuals.
Specifically, as announced by the Organization, starting February 3, 2025, the verification/authentication of beneficiaries will be required for issuing and executing health services and products using a One-Time Password (OTP).
The OTP will be sent via SMS to the certified mobile phone number of each beneficiary, as declared according to the instructions detailed below.
To ensure a smooth transition to the new system, there will be a one-time option to issue and execute health service and product authorizations without a certified mobile phone number. However, this option will not be available for subsequent authorizations, as beneficiaries will need to have completed the mobile number certification process beforehand.
The application of the OTP system for issuing and executing EOPYY authorizations will apply to the following categories of healthcare benefits:
- Physiotherapy and Open Care Rehabilitation
- Special Therapy
- Medical Supplies
- Additional Care Materials
- Special Dietary Products
The certification of the mobile phone number can be done:
- Through the EOPYY Health Insurance File (via the EOPYY website www.eopyy.gov.gr)
- Through the National Communication Registry (EMEp) (via the website www.gov.gr or at Citizen Service Centers).
It is clarified that for specific cases involving minors and the elderly, the following provisions apply:
- Minors without Taxisnet credentials: During the issuance/execution of an authorization, the parent’s mobile phone will be used, provided it has been certified via the EOPYY Health Insurance File or EMEp.
- Elderly individuals without a mobile phone: Elderly beneficiaries can be certified through the EOPYY Health Insurance File using the mobile phone number of their caregiver. Subsequently, authorizations will be issued/executed using the certified phone number of the caregiver.
