Pavlos Christidis: “We will support Sakellaropoulou for President of the Hellenic Republic”

The PASOK MP emphasizes that they are waiting for Mitsotakis' proposal for the next President of the Republic and expresses support for Sakellaropoulou’s candidacy

Newsroom January 8 12:31

Pavlos Christidis, MP of PASOK, spoke about the party’s stance on the election of the President of the Republic.

Speaking to SKAI, he stated: “The President of the Republic should be a unifying figure with national characteristics, representing all Greek citizens, both domestically and abroad.”

Regarding the proposal for the next President, Christidis emphasized: “We are waiting to see Mr. Mitsotakis’ proposal.”

When asked by journalists whether PASOK would vote again for Katerina Sakellaropoulou, he responded: “If she is Mitsotakis’ proposal, we would vote for her again. We have repeatedly stated that we consider her to have had a remarkable tenure, something our party’s president has also expressed. If Mr. Mitsotakis does not propose her, it will likely be due to internal political reasons, and he will need to publicly explain what those reasons are that lead him to not renew her term.”
