The former president of the Athens Bar Association, Yannis Adamopoulos, passed away

Former president of the Athens Bar Association, Yannis Adamopoulos, has passed away at the age of 63. The funeral service will be held at his place of origin in Sklirou, Messinia.

Yannis Adamopoulos, born in 1962, was a graduate of the Law School of the Democritus University of Thrace.

He graduated from the University of Athens, Greece.
He practiced law in Athens since 1986.

He graduated from Athens in 1962 from the Academy of Law in Athens since 1986.
From April 2005 to November 2007 he served as Consumer Advocate, head of the Independent Authority.

From November 2007 to January 2009, he served as President of the Vocational Education and Training Organization (OEKEK), Chairman of the College Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs, and Vice President of ESEEKA.

From February to October 2009, he served as Secretary General of Communications of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

He was a consultant of the Athens Bar Association (first in votes in the elections of 1999, 2002, and 2005).

Deputy representative of the Athens Bar Association to the National Committee for Human Rights (1999-2002).

During his term of office on the Board of Directors of the Athens Bar Association, he was a member of its Disciplinary Council, a member of its Management Committee, as well as a member and rapporteur in committees that elaborated and submitted proposals on issues related to the proper functioning of justice and the correct administration of justice. Furthermore, he served as Chairman of the Athens Prefecture’s Friendly Settlement Committee, as a representative of the Athens Bar Association (1999-2001).

He was a member of the Association of Greek Tort Lawyers, the Association of Consumer Protection Law, and other scientific associations.

In the February-March 2011 elections, he was elected president of the Athens Bar Association.

Editor of the legal magazine “Society of Lawyers”.

Author and publisher of the book – aid for young, mainly, and practicing lawyers entitled “Simple and Useful” (4 editions).

Author and publisher of the book “Mortgage – Real Estate” (2 editions).

Author and publisher of the book “Compulsory Execution – legal compositions.

It is with great sadness that we were informed of the unfortunate news of the unexpected loss of our colleague and former President of the Athens Bar Association, Yannis Adamopoulos.

The Board of Directors will hold an extraordinary meeting to issue a statement, to express its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, and to take all appropriate decisions as soon as it is informed of the funeral service
