Nineteen arrests for “protection” of brothels and gambling clubs – Four police officers among the accused

A police officer is among the arrested officers – The suspects are also accused of fraud against the state – They allegedly set up shell companies

Four police officers and 15 civilians were arrested for participating in criminal organizations allegedly collecting money from brothels and gambling clubs under the pretext of “covering” their operations. The arrests were made by the Internal Affairs Division of the Hellenic Police.

According to reports, those arrested include one police officer of higher rank and three guards.

In addition to providing cover for brothels and gambling clubs, the organizations are also implicated in fraud against the state, as their members are accused of setting up shell companies and evading VAT payments.

The operation began on Friday morning and is still ongoing.
