Suspension of government funding to “Spartiates” is recommended in the House, by an overwhelming majority, by the Ethics Committee of the Parliament, in implementation of the recent provision of the Ministry of Interior which provides for the suspension of party funding until the acquittal decision of the judiciary, on persons who are alleged to be the real leaders of parties and have been convicted under the provisions of 187 and 187A of the P.K.
The representatives of the parties in the Ethics Committee were in favour of the suspension of funding and two MPs, namely the representatives of the “Spa” and “Victory”, voted against it.
The Interior Ministry’s amendment voted by the Parliament, a few days before Christmas, has included a special provision according to which any election funding given to parties that, for whatever reason, did not participate in the elections will be returned.
