The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, has asked Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces General Dimitrios Xoupis, to extraordinary crises in the Armed Forces, at the ranks of Lieutenant General and Lieutenant General, Vice Admiral and Vice Admiral PN and Vice Captain and Lieutenant Captain.

The purpose of the extraordinary crises is to accelerate the pace of implementation of the new Forces Structure within the framework of the Agenda 2030 for reform in the Armed Forces, to rationalize the number of senior officers and to adapt to the modern operational requirements of the recently approved new Force Structure.
