Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama gave a scarf to his Italian counterpart Georgia Meloni on her birthday today, Wednesday.
Rama, kneeled to deliver the gift and sang “tanti auguri” (happy birthday) as the two leaders attended the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.
The scarf was the work of an Italian designer who had moved to Albania, Rama explained to Meloni.

The two leaders maintain good relations and last year co-signed the controversial agreement to open reception centres in Albania for migrants rescued at sea by Italian authorities. The centres currently remain dormant due to legal challenges to the system.
At the summit, Italy, Albania, and the United Arab Emirates signed an agreement worth at least €1 billion to build a subsea interconnection for renewable energy in the Adriatic.
