The European Public Prosecutor’s Office announced Friday afternoon that it had sent an urgent injunction in the form of an urgent injunction to both the X (formerly Twitter) platform and its owner, Elon Musk, requesting the immediate delivery of all internal company documents showing and, in essence, explaining how X uses its algorithm to push political content to its users.
This move, according to the Financial Times, comes as part of an expanded Brussels investigation involving not just Musk’s X, but all social media.
It is noted that Brussels sources stress that today’s development follows official requests for an investigation by political parties in Germany, but these have been filed before the interview – for Musk’s “debate” – between him and the head of the far-right AfD in X.
Musk and X have yet to make an official announcement.
