A change in the weather is expected from today and for the whole week, according to meteorologists, with local showers, mainly in the west and the southern and eastern Aegean Sea, where sporadic thunderstorms will occur. The temperature will drop slightly from tomorrow in terms of maximum values.
According to the director of EMY, Thodoris Kolydas, “the week will start with local rain mainly in the western and eastern Aegean Sea on Monday and Tuesday and next Friday. In the remaining areas no significant rain is forecast until the end of the week. Temperatures will drop a little over the next weekend but will rise later and will be in normal or slightly above normal levels,” he wrote.
According to the forecast of Tasos Arniakou, a total change in the weather is expected on Monday 20/1 with showers and thunderstorms mainly in the west, while on Tuesday 21/1 the intense phenomena will cover the whole country, with a sharp drop in mercury. In fact, there will be no lack of snow at higher altitudes.
What changes after January 25
Meteorologists point out that there is a high probability of cold air masses descending from Northern Europe towards Greece after January 25. If this scenario is confirmed, a significant drop in temperature, snowfall even in areas with lower altitudes and an increased risk of frost is expected.
Meteorologist Sakis Arnaoutoglou notes that there is a possibility of cold air masses descending from the north after January 25, which may cause severe chill and snowfall even at lower altitudes. According to him, if the cold wave descends towards our country, “it will bring surprises that winter always hides in its pocket”.
