The Trump administration has fired Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Linda Lee Fagan, the first uniformed female branch chief of the U.S. Armed Forces
According to Fox News Digital, Fagan was fired by acting Homeland Security Secretary Benjamin Huffman.
The White House and the department did not respond to requests for comment.
Earlier, Fox News, citing an unnamed senior department official, reported that Fagan was fired because there were concerns about the border situation, and hiring and also because of a “lack of trust.”
He cited as the reason for Fagan’s inability to address threats to border security, recruit and retain agency personnel, mismanagement on her part, and her excessive focus on initiatives that promote diversity, equal opportunity,y and inclusion of all in the agency.
Former President Joe Biden had nominated Fagan to head the Coast Guard in 2021.
