In recent months, Josh O’Connor has found himself in the spotlight due to rumors that he could be the next James Bond.
The actor was asked about this during an interview with Deadline at the Sundance Festival, where he was promoting his new film, Rebuilding.

“I have no thoughts on it, really,” he responded, adding, “The truth is… I think it all started when I made a joke one week, saying, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I played Bond?’ Then, Daniel [Craig] and I did the Actors on Actors interview, and something else happened after that, and suddenly I was James Bond. If I’m Bond, I have no idea about it.”
O’Connor is the latest in a long list of actors rumored to be contenders for Bond, one of the most talked-about roles, as the future of the franchise appears to be up in the air. (Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Regé-Jean Page, Sam Heughan, Tom Hardy, and Henry Cavill are among the other names that have been floated as Craig’s successor.)
In Rebuilding, O’Connor plays Dusty, a cowboy trying to rebuild his life after losing his ranch in the devastating Colorado wildfires. Among those joining him in the interview was his co-star Kali Reis, known for her Emmy-nominated performance in True Detective: Night Country. Reis jokingly commented on the idea of O’Connor playing Bond, saying, “As long as I get to be your sidekick.”
