An entire arsenal, consisting of bullets, grenades, explosives and guns, was found in the carpentry shop of 60-year-old Dimitris Koltsidas, perpetrator of the double murder in Gonnoi, Larissa, with victims reportedly a carpenter from Skiathos and a distributor from Volos. After holed up for seven hours inside the carpenter’s shop, causing police mobilization and panic in the area, he ended his life.

According to a police statement, on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 07:03, a 60-year-old national called the call center of the Rapid Action of the Larissa Police Directorate and the Tempi Police Department, stating that he shot and killed 2 people in an area of Larissa. Police officers of the local Police Department, the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes, Direct Action, the O.P.K.K.E. and the Traffic Police were immediately mobilized, while a team from the Thessaloniki Police Department and a negotiator from the Greek Police arrived at the scene. The 60-year-old man refused to leave the workshop and threatened to commit suicide, while, as it was found, he was carrying a firearm and a grenade.

The statement continued, “Officers cordoned off the area around the laboratory and evacuated homes and premises in the vicinity of the scene to ensure the physical integrity and the lives of bystanders and any passers-by. At about 16:00, and while negotiations were continuing, the 60-year-old man left the workshop, firing in the air with a “KALASHNIKOV” type military weapon he was carrying, fired a shot at a police officer of the EKAM and immediately with a revolver pistol, which he carried, fatally wounded himself. Police officers of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department are conducting investigations inside the shop, while preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes of Larissa”.
