The chances of a notable cold invasion next week are increasing, according to meteorologist Clearchos Marousakis, who predicts that an organized low barometric pressure from the Italian region will affect our country at the weekend, giving locally many heavy showers, while as for the cold, the weather will soften and the snow will be located at high altitudes, as southerly winds will prevail.
“Organized low pressure from the region of Italy is expected to affect our country this weekend giving locally heavy and heavy rainfall. As for the cold, the weather will soften and snow will be localized at high altitudes since southerly winds will prevail at times,” the meteorologist notes.
“Almost all forecast models have now turned to the scenario of our global forecasting system ‘Hercules’. This means that in the new week we will again see an organized polar air downdraft towards our region without being able to give more information about this development yet.”
However, in another post he refers to the heavy winter coming soon.
“Barren winter is also seeing the morning run of our global model “Hercules” with continued cold snaps down towards our region. While strong, the indication our forecast system has been giving us for several days now, it still remains as a trend since we are not quite close to the dates in question,” it says initially.
“On a positive note, the other global models are also “leaning” to this indication of our model, increasing the chances of an intensely cold and long period. We will continually update by incorporating newer forecast data,” he concludes.
