Hundreds of loan approvals for “My Home 2” in the first Month – Small and medium income earners benefit

To date, participating banks have approved 584 subsidized mortgage loans totaling 65 million euros. At the same time, interest in the program remains high, with approximately 120,000 citizens submitting their details to check if they qualify based on the program’s criteria.

The goal of the program is to help around 20,000 households acquire their first home with favorable conditions.

According to the first data, “My Home 2” primarily benefits those with low to medium incomes, as the average annual income of approved borrowers does not exceed 21,300 euros. The homes being purchased have an average size of 91.5 square meters, indicating that many participants are seeking family homes. Approximately seven out of ten approved applications involve married couples or single-parent families.

The “My Home 2” program has expanded age eligibility, now covering citizens up to 50 years old, whereas the “My Home 1” program had a limit of 39 years. This broader pool of eligible applicants is reflected in the average age of borrowers, which stands at 38 years.

While most approvals are concentrated in the large population centers of Athens and Central Macedonia, over 46% of the approved applications so far were submitted from regions outside these areas, indicating a broad geographic interest.

The highest number of approvals outside Athens and Thessaloniki is in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, with 56 approvals, followed by Thessaly with 37.

This positive outcome of the “My Home 2” program highlights its potential to support first-time homebuyers, especially those from smaller towns and the middle-income brackets.
