French President Emmanuel Macron spoke by phone Monday with U.S. President Donald Trump shortly before European leaders met in Ukraine.
The announcement was made by the French presidency.
The call reportedly lasted 20 minutes.
The call came just before European leaders arrived at the Elysee Palace.
The heads of government of Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, and Denmark, representing the Baltic states, have arrived in Paris.
Also present are European Council President Antonio Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
