The aircraft of Delta Flight 4819, in Toronto, Canada, crashed while landing at Pearson International Airport, injuring several passengers.
Videos of the moment of the crash have seen the light of day, however one of them, which has been posted on Platform X, has very clearly captured the moment the aircraft overturned and burst into flames.
In particular, it shows the moment it lands with one wing destroyed. It then flips over and catches fire. In fact, it continues to skid across the snow-covered runway and disappears completely from view as clouds of smoke engulf the aircraft.
“We were left hanging upside down like bats”
Survivors described the chaos inside the aircraft as it struggled with winds blowing in the area trying to make a safe landing.
One passenger explained how they were left “hanging upside down like bats” after the aircraft’s wing was cut off and it flipped over. Another noted that “there was a big fireball on the left side of the plane.“
According to the Daily Mail, at least 18 people were injured, including a child. Authorities in Canada are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
Shocking video – How the 80 passengers got out
Shocking videos of the moment the Canadair CRJ-900 crashed have been released.
As seen in the videos posted on social media, the airplane with 80 passengers on board “exploded” to the ground, causing a small explosion and causing the aircraft to flip over.
The plane then skidded out of control for several meters, leaving behind a cloud of black smoke.
Despite the crash and the plane’s somersault, there were no casualties among the passengers with 18 of them injured – three in serious condition. They are a child and two men, one of whom is 60 years old.
Passengers on the flight recorded the scenes of chaos that unfolded as the crew evacuated the plane.
“I was just in a plane crash. Oh my God,” one of the passengers who escaped without a scratch can be heard saying.
According to the US Civil Aviation Authority, the accident occurred on Delta Air Lines Flight 4819 operated by Endeavor Air.
The plane, which had taken off from Minneapolis, was carrying 22 Canadians while the other passengers were of various nationalities.
The airport’s fire chief said that although the investigation into the circumstances of the accident is early, “the runway was dry and there were no strong winds.”
