Extraordinary measures by the Municipality of Athens due to cold weather

Severe cold across the country for six days

Newsroom February 19 01:46

Emergency measures are being taken by the Municipality of Athens from noon, at 15:00, and for as long as necessary, due to the low temperatures that will prevail in the coming days due to the bad weather Coral, according to the forecasts of the National Meteorological Service.

Specifically, the Agios Eleftherios Friendship Club (372 Acharnon Street) is opening, providing safe accommodation, food and basic care services. The street work teams of the Social Solidarity Department of the Municipality of Athens will offer protection to the homeless. In continuous shifts they will operate in the streets of the city, distributing hot tea, food, clothing and blankets. Those who wish to do so will be able to move to the dormitory of the Multipurpose Homeless Center, on Acharnon and Liossias streets.

The Municipality of Athens invites any citizen who spots someone living on the street to call the call center of the K.Y.A.D.A. 210-5246515/6 (ext. 0), providing information with the exact location, so that the street work teams can intervene immediately. Reports of places where homeless people are located can also be made to the four-digit number 1595 (charge depending on the provider).
