The resumption of the dialogue on “all parameters” was agreed Russia and the US, the Kremlin announced, as the two sides are in the process of diplomatic outreach to settle the war in Ukraine.
“A decision was taken to resume the Russian-American dialogue on all parameters,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a briefing of reporters.
Peskov was responding to a question about a possible new prisoner exchange between Moscow and Washington. “This issue is on the agenda of our bilateral relations, it will not be excluded,” Peskov said.
The Kremlin spokesman also referred to the position of US President Donald Trump regarding the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, stressing that Moscow “fully agrees” with this approach.
“We agree with the US administration”
“They talk about the need to achieve peace as soon as possible and to do so through negotiations. We have also already noted that this position is more positive for us than that of the previous administration” and “we fully agree with the US administration,” Peskov said.
According to him, the US “has been and remains” the “key driving force” providing “the largest economic contribution that fuels” the conflict in Ukraine.
Peskov once again accused Joe Biden’s former administration of wanting to “continue the war to the last Ukrainian” and spending US taxpayers’ money to do so.
However, he said that for now there is not enough “tangible” to achieve a settlement to the conflict, mainly because of “disagreements between Washington and Kiev.“
